Mr.Coron told the committee the Redgranite Elementary School has been awarded for the 4th consecutive year "The School of Promise Award". Last year arrangements were made to have a sign on the west side of the village. The sign board is owned by Jones Sign company and they cooperated by giving an attractive rate for the large sign. Mr. Coron would like to continue the sign by adding 2007, for another 8 months, and is negotiating a rate to have this done. For accomplishing the recognition by the State, the district receives a cash award and some of that money would be used for the extension period but additional money is required. A donor has offered some funding, Mr. Harris will ask the Lohrville Village Board to make a contribution and asked the committee if they could help with the project. The committee agreed that $300.00 be given from the Economic Development Committee, subject to Village Board approval.
Roberta Reepsdorf reported the Labor Day Celebration was well attended and already some craft people have registered for next year. The crafts, art work and jewelry making seems to grow each year. The pie contest was a big hit and will probably be expanded next year. The Labor Day committee have begun plans for next year and will be adding new attractions including a "pumpkin carver". The Susan B. Coleman Foundation for cancer research collected $280.00. The committee would also like to include some decorating on the streets to make the area attractive
