REDGRANITE VILLAGE BOARD MEETING - July 20, 2010
The monthly meeting of the Redgranite Village Board was held on July 20, 2010 at the Municipal Building. Members present: Paul Mertz, Craig Adamson, Sandra Lyles, Richard Piechowski, Betty Eannelli, Angie Ralls and Jerry Sieg. Also attending: Village Clerk-treasurer Madonna Berube.
PUBLIC FORUM: Jane Putskey, candidate for Waushara County Clerk of Circuit Court provided information about implementation of procedures and duties of the office. Sheriff Peterson invited everyone to attend the upcoming Picnic for a Purpose to be held at the Saxeville Fire Department on August 3 beginning at 10:00 a.m. Urged people to attend as many interesting subjects will be presented by Departments of Aging, Health and Sheriff.
REPORTS: Information has been received that Redgranite will receive Department of Transportation MSIP funds in the amount of $12,006.93 for street repairs, the Community Development Block Grant funds for loan to eligible persons totals $48,542.69 and two properties previously funded by CDBG are now in foreclosure. An Open House is being planned for July 31 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Municipal Building to honor the retirement of former police Chief Ron Mastricola and the public is invited. A culvert has been replaced at Willow Creek Park due to failure from high water. Some of the other ditches in that area are in need of cleaning. Well #1 has had some problems and testing is continuing and pulling of the well maybe necessary.
FINANCE- PERSONNEL - INSURANCE - Approval was made to accept the 2009 Financial Statements and Internal Control Report for General Fund & Utilities as prepared by Baker Tilly, Virchow Krause, LLP. In the future as items that are purchased that should be considered for future depreciation and plant accounting, will be recorded to enable an up to date continuing record of these items. Approval made to open contract negotiations for Redgranite Professional Police Association and Redgranite Water Utility & Wastewater Treatment Plant Assoc, with committee working with labor attorney from Davis & Kuelthau.
STREETS & SIDEWALKS Approved blanket permit for construction along village roads in 2010 and 2011 by CenturyTel.
POLICE & FIRE - Approved purchase of voice recorder, camcorder, transcriber, computer system and printer for police department. This equipment will include a foot pedal, head set, printer that is capable of printing photos, larger monitor and keyboard. Committee authorized to meet with Chief Olander to interview some applicants for a part time officer eligibility list. Board will act on recommendation at August meeting. Approved Updating Code Numbers in Section 9-1-1 for Ordinance #2010-01.
SEWER & WATER - Approved repair of prison sampler at cost of $280.00 and $225.50. Also approved sewer billing adjustment for water leak at 222 Irving Street
MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS - Officer Kyle Tarr was given permission to have a tree planted near the police department office in memory of former board member Tony Caswell. Operator license applications approved: Amy Peterman, Linda Gaatz, Dawn Yost, Brenda Gerrits and Susan Gustke.
