The monthly meeting of the Redgranite Village Board was held on June 15, 2010 at the Municipal Building.
Members present: Paul Mertz, Sandra Lyles, Richard Piechowski, Betty Eannelli and Jerry Sieg. Also attending: Village Clerk-treasurer Madonna Berube, Chief Olander and Sgt. Belfeuil.
Reports: The census workers have held training sessions in the meeting room and will meet again on July 8. Appointment of Jan Arndt to the Zoning Board of Appeals and Robert Wilcox to the Plan Commission, were approved.
Sponsorship of $250.00 was approved for the annual Bannerman Trail Benefit Run to Waushara County's Coordinated Community Response Team, that is held on Labor Day weekend. Refund of full deposit on picnic table rental for Jakefest (non-profit organization) was approved.
POLICE-FIRE COMMITTEE - approved hiring of Kathy Johnson as part time secretary for police department. Committee will meet with Chief Olander to review employment of part time police officers from eligibility list. Purchase of a Taser and flashlight for the police department was approved. Other equipment for police department, including digital camcorder, computer, monitor, laser printer and digital recorder will be reviewed with Mike Abts and recommendations will be presented for Board action at July meeting. Village of Redgranite will participate in the Joint Municipal Court beginning in August until term ending in 2012. Police department will view properties that have grass longer than permitted by ordinance, a letter by regular mail will be sent to last known address and if not cut within 5 days, police will advise Public Works department for them to cut the grass, property owner will be billed by the Clerk and if not paid will be put on the tax roll for 2010. Bickford will prepare ordinance on hunting regulations and permit, this will be considered and acted on at July meeting.
SEWER - WATER COMMITTEE - Approved agreement with Strand Associates Inc. for sewer user charge system at estimated fee of $5,300. Resolution #2010-01, Compliance Maintenance Annual Report, with a GPA of 4.00, approved. Purchases approved: aluminum sulfate, $5,198, oil for aerator from Tom's Auto Service at cost of $558.00, (no shipping charge) and replacement meter from P. J. Kortens at cost of $3,500. Due to lightning damage this replacement will be filed with the insurance company.
PARKS - CEMETERY COMMITTEE - Paul Mertz gave update on the donation by the 4th grade class for a recycle bin, placed at Veteran's Memorial Park (Downtown Park).
MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS - Approval for license applications made for: Alcohol license applications, Operator license applications, Cigarette license applications and Mobile Home Park license for period July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011. Redgranite Advancement Association submitted a list of requests regarding the Labor Day activities. Request to hold street dance in village parking lot adjacent to Stumble Inn on September 5th from 7 p.m. to midnight was approved. Request to add sign on village "Welcome" sign from UCC was denied. Request by Vicky Pawlacyk of Vicky's Lunch Wagon to operate a lunch wagon in Quarry Park during 2010, was approved. Redgranite Correctional Institution has offered clean up assistance at the quarry park during the summer.
