The regular monthly meeting of the Redgranite Village Board was held May 17, 2011 at the Municipal Building. Members present: Paul Mertz, Joel Kalata, Sandra Lyles, Richard Piechowski, Betty Eannelli, Angie Ralls and Jerry Sieg. Also attending: Village Clerk-treasurer Madonna Berube.
PUBLIC FORUM - Tom Savka inquired regarding handling of issuance of citation and Thomas Bartlett asked about an upcoming meeting of the Zoning Board of Appeals meeting.
REPORTS - Clerk Berube shared information regarding household hazardous waste disposal that is held in Waupaca County for which there is a disposal fee. A meeting will be held by the Zoning Board of Appeals to consider request to move in a new mobile home, less than 24 feet wide as required in ordinance (will be 14 x 70 ft) on a lot on Warren St. A letter of appreciation was received from Jan Novak, Human Services Dept. in appreciation for the Healthy Living Program. The Board of Review will be meeting on June 3 at 10:00 a.m. and will be in session for persons wishing to appear with questions/comments on June 30. Clerk also informed the board that the law firm of Hupy and Abraham advised they are no longer representing Tom Savka in a claim that was filed previously.
FINANCE/PERSONNEL/INSURANCE: Renewal of employee health insurance benefits with United Healthcare was approved. By a split vote, Attorney Joan Olson was approved to be the village legal counsel instead of previous village attorney Marc Bickford. Approval was made for 2010 financial statements for TIF#1 and TIF#2.
POLICE/FIRE - Officer Kyle Tarr shared information with the board regarding possible COPs grant, that provides funding for 3 years for an officer, after which the municipality is required to hire for at least one year. The committee had not recommended application due to uncertainty of available local funds in the future. Alliant Energy grants make possible purchase of various items of equipment. Kyle has submitted application for some equipment and results of the application should be received by August 1. He had asked to have some ordinances amended to change length of time for compliance; this will be discussed by ordinance committee and brought to board for consideration.
SEWER/WATER - Approved the emergency replacement of Stenner Peristaltic pump at cost of $434.95, plus shipping. Charges will be taken from the replacement fund account.
MISCELLANEOUS - Approved the following: Temporary Class B license application by Veteran's Club, May 30th, operator license application submitted by Dennis Oltesvig-Stumble Inn and the request to hold Poker Run for Jakefest and serve food in fenced area of village parking lot adjacent to Stumble Inn on June 11th from 5 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Approved a $500.00 sponsorship request from Redgranite Advancement Association for Labor Days Festival.
