February 18, 2010 - at 7 p.m. 

                       REDGRANITE VILLAGE BOARD MEETING               

The monthly meeting of the Redgranite Village Board was held at the Municipal Building on February 18, 2010.  Members present:  Paul Mertz, Richard Piechowski, Betty Eannelli, Angie Ralls and Jerry Sieg.  Also present: Village Clerk-treasurer Madonna Berube.

Public Forum - Mike Schaeffer asked to have a portion of Dearborn Street closed for a street dance on June 26th, sponsored by the Redgranite Fire Department Auxiliary. Request was approved to allow the dance and activities will close at 12 midnight.  Simon Shrock on behalf of the Knights of Columbus, asked for permission to place the organization sign on the existing Lions Club sign posts that are located on Foster Road and the other on north end of Pine River Street.  Request was approved.  Warden Mike Dittman introduced himself to the board and offered assistance when possible to the surrounding areas for various projects.

REPORTS:  Representative Joan Ballweg will hold a listening session on April 9 at the Municipal Building.  Renewal for the group life and short term disability insurance was made with no change in premium.  Municipal Services payment was received in the amount of $36,385.11 and WHEDA made payment in lieu of taxes for property on Pearl Street in amount of $1339.00, for six months.  The Open Book for review of property assessments will be on April 1 at the Municipal Building from 10:00 a.m. until noon.  Attorney Bickford is working on review and possible changes for ordinance changes regarding hunting.

FINANCE/PERSONNEL/INSURANCE - Considered and acted on retirement agreement for Chief of Police Ron Mastricola.  A retirement agreement has been prepared and he will receive payment for accumulated vacation, personal leave, and holiday leave, following signature of the agreement.  Also as provided in contract he will be paid 1/5 of accumulated sick leave with balance paid annually over a four year period.  Reported the advertisement for police chief replacement has been published for two weeks, those are due by February 26 and joint committee will review them on March 2 and Ron Thurley will assist the committee.  Also reported was information from Sheriff Peterson that he would be willing to appear before the Board to provide information regarding possible contracting with the County for police protection in the village. He will be contacted and asked to meet with the board.  A contract with Modern Business Leasing Company was approved for lease of copy machine, including fax and all maintenance service for cost of $101.00 monthly for 60 months. A liability waiver agreement was approved  with MBM Leasing Company but the authorization agreement for auto debit was not.

POLICE AND FIRE - Approved re-adoption of the Waushara County All-Hazard Mitigation plan.

SEWER/WATER - Authorized Lane Tank Co., Inc. to perform repairs to 100,000 gallon water storage tank at cost of $2,900.00 .  An adjustment to sewer billing due to water leak at 512 Laing Street was approved for the amount of $29.55,

PARKS/CEMETERY - Information regarding purchase of camera to deter vandalism was tabled until more information can be obtained.  No bids have been received for grave opening/closing services.  Update was given on use of East Side Park by Thursday night ball team for practice and games. The board hoped more clubs or groups could make use of the facilities and are pleased to have the Thursday night club play at the park.

MISCELLANEOUS -  Operator license applications approved for Brittany Walz, Crystal Kikendall and Brooke Neuman. Request by owners of property at 119 Chicago Drive to have 3 house dogs was granted.  The annual Board of Review will be May 25 from 6:00 p.m. until  8 p.m. with board members Paul Mertz, Richard Piechowski and Jerry Sieg attending.
