The monthly meeting of the Redgranite Village Board was held November 17, 2009 at the Municipal Building. Members present: Paul Mertz, Tony Caswell, Sandra Lyles, Richard Piechowski, Betty Eannelli, Angie Ralls and Jerry Sieg. Also attending: Village Clerk-treasurer Madonna Berube.
REPORTS - The next local blood drive will be at the Municipal Building on November 23 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Appointments can be made by calling the Village Clerk office at 566-2381. The village will receive a Local Government Property Insurance Dividend Credit of $3,452.00. Senator Luther Olsen will hold a listening session at the Municipal building on November 30 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. City of Wautoma has invited the Village of Redgranite to join their municipal court. The Village Board will ask someone from Wautoma to be at the December 15 meeting to give more details. A request has been received by a property owner about detaching some acreage from the Village so they can be permitted to do bow hunting on their property. Attorney Bickford will be contacted about possibility of permits that could be issued, permitting some hunting. It was noted the City of Berlin has such ordinance.
FINANCE/PERSONNEL/INSURANCE - An updated service agreement with Affinity Occupational Health was presented for consideration and approved. This service is required by DOT regulations. The Village has 3 employees that must adhere to the random alcohol and drug testing; annual cost is $25.00 per employee, plus collection and lab fee. Approved lease of Canon image Runner 3225 digital multifunctional imaging system from Modern Business Machines, which includes lease of copier, cabinet, fax and scanner, supplies, except paper, 60 month lease at cost of $1212.00 per year.
STREETS/SIDEWALKS - Authorized submission of Local Road Improvement Program application. Estimated share of these funds will be $12,000, for 2010.
SEWER/WATER - Authorized order for 100 Orion automated water meter heads at cost of $115.50 each, billing to be in 2010. Approved uncover and move water valve box for Aurora Clinic in Warren Street as it is under the asphalt road, cost estimated to be $600-$700, without dewater. One of the seals on John Deere tractor had been replaced by Sobieski Brothers and now the second one should be done. Approved repair by Sobieski Brothers, cost about $900. Acted to purchase of unit to thaw frozen water services (PSC requirement), prices to be obtained with purchase to be at lowest cost.
PARKS/CEMETERY - committee to obtain information about surveillance equipment. When the village employees remove the old building at the cemetery it will be hauled to Valley Trail Disposal which will be less cost than rental of dumpster.
MACHINERY/SOLID WASTE/ORDINANCE - Approved purchase of 55 gallon drum of 15W40 motor oil from Condon Oil, estimated cost about $467.50. Ordinance committee will review no smoking ordinance and recommend changes to meet State Smoking Ban Act effective July 5, 2010.
MISCELLANEOUS - approved operator license application for Lisa Nelson. Reviewed and completed the Evidence Based Environmental Strategies Survey.
